Rights
The quality manager has the right:
4.1. Request personally or on behalf of the immediate supervisor from the heads of departments of the enterprise and specialists for information and documents necessary to study the causes of defects and violations of production technology, decreased quality of work, production of defects and products of lower grades.
4.2. Familiarize yourself with draft management decisions relating to his job duties, with documents defining his rights and responsibilities for his position, and criteria for assessing the quality of performance of his job functions.
4.3. Submit proposals to your immediate supervisor for consideration:
- to change the composition, structure of materials used (raw materials, semi-finished products), components or product design;
- to change the order of product design;
- to change product manufacturing technology, test methods, quality control systems for manufacturing, storage, packaging, transportation, and installation.
3.4.Inform your manager about all shortcomings in the production activities of the enterprise (its structural divisions) identified during the performance of your official duties and make proposals for their elimination.
3.5.Involve specialists from all (separate) structural units in solving the tasks assigned to it (if this is provided for by the regulations on structural units, if not, then only with the permission of management).
3.6. Demand assistance from the management of the enterprise in fulfilling his official duties and exercising his rights.
3.7 Participate in the discussion of issues related to defect-free production at all stages of the technological process.
Job responsibilities
The quality manager is responsible for:
3.1 Analyze compliance of product quality with certain requirements, specific standards or specifications.
3.2 Monitor compliance of the characteristics of manufactured products with existing and future market needs.
3.3 Carry out activities aimed at improving the consumer characteristics of manufactured products (reliability, durability, efficiency, etc.), achieving and exceeding the quality of the best competitive samples.
3.4 Implement measures aimed at achieving the planned level of quality, increasing reliability, reducing failures and defects during product operation;
3.5 Compile a list of requirements (requirements for purpose, safety, environmental friendliness, reliability, ergonomics, resource conservation, manufacturability, aesthetics) for products (services) established by consumers of the products.
3.6 Agree with the consumer on a general list of characteristics for manufactured products, aimed at meeting the requirements for innovative and high-quality products that meet the requirements of international, national and corporate standards.
3.7 Compile a list of requirements not established by consumers, but necessary for the operation of products (services). Organization of testing of finished products in order to identify internal defects.
3.8 Analyze and assess the risk of violation of regulatory requirements for the safety of manufactured products.
3.9 Keep a log of correspondence regarding complaints and claims regarding the quality of products, works (services).
3.10 Analyze complaints and claims regarding the quality of products, works (services).
3.11 Prepare a conclusion and maintain correspondence based on the results of consideration of complaints and claims regarding product quality.
3.12 Analyze the methods used to control (qualitative and quantitative) quality indicators of products (services) in the organization.
3.13 Prepare proposals for adjusting the existing and applying modern methods of monitoring (qualitative and quantitative) quality indicators of products (services) at the enterprise.
3.14 Participate in the development of planned activities aimed at improving product quality.
Requirements for a quality manager
Mandatory requirements for a quality manager:
- higher education - preferably technical or MBA;
- experience in the field of quality management (at least six months, more often from 3 years);
- knowledge of ISO standards;
- knowledge of legislation in the intended field of work (construction, medicine, education, etc.);
- excellent PC knowledge;
- English language level intermediate and above is highly desirable.
Communication skills, an analytical mind and leadership skills are also important for a quality manager.
Responsibilities of a Quality Manager
The range of tasks included in the job responsibilities of a quality manager is very wide:
- audit and description of enterprise business processes;
- development of internal regulatory documents (instructions, regulations, procedures);
- implementation and control of a quality management system;
- ensuring certification of the company’s activities in accordance with international and domestic standards.
Sometimes the functions of a quality manager include monitoring production stages, but in fact this is the responsibility of a quality control inspector.
